Practicing since 1990, Advocate R. Sathyanarayanan Iyer has an indepth knowledge of law, especially criminal law. He has vast experience as a trial court lawyer and also regularly appears in the Appellate courts, including the Bombay High Court. He has conducted several trials in the Sessions' and Magistrate courts. Notably, he has represented parties in the Harshad Mehta scam in the Bombay High Court and is currently representing some of the accused in the Bhima Koregaon case, which is being prosecuted by the National Investigation Agency. As such he is well versed with the special Criminal statutes such as the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, Prevention of Money Laundering Act, The Prevention of Corruption Act, etc. In the usual course of things, Advocate R. Sathyanarayanan Iyer, also has conducted trials in cases pertaining to The Negotiable Instruments Act and is very familiar with the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act. He has appeared in the Debt Recovery Tribunal. He has handled cases arising out of Section 452 of The Companies Act (Old Section 630) cases coming under The Drugs and Cosmetics Act, The Customs Act, amongst others. He is conversant with The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and has appeared in the National Company Law Tribunal. Further, he has also appeared in matters arising out of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act. Mr. R. Sathyanarayanan has also handled many cases pertaining to various sections in the Indian Penal Code both at trial and Appellate stages . He has reported judgments on points of law to his credit. Given his long and varied experience in the criminal courts , Advocate R. Sathyanarayanan Iyer has been invited to lecture on various aspects of the procedural criminal law by colleges as well as by the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa.
